A Mother's Touch birth services is led by a birth doula with 25 years of experience in Labor/Delivery and postpartum as an RN. In addition, I have attended a DONA international training workshop for birth doulas and ICEA training for childbirth education

I cover the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and fetal development. I will also provide information on the stages of labor, when to call your provider and techniques to promote bonding in the immediate postpartum period. We will go over positions for labor and pushing, pain management optins and the benefits of natural childbirth. My past experience gives me the idea backgroound for addressing your peresonal concerns.
What do you hope parents will gain from taking your childbirth classes with A Mother's Touch?
After participating in chidbirth education, birthing pairs will be empowered in making informed choices regarding how their labor is managed. Birthers and their partners will also be able to put pain management exercises into practice.
How do you create a comfortable and supportive learning environment in your childbirth classes?
My classes are a judgement free zone. My goal is not to tell you how you should approach childbirth but rather support your ideal childbirth experience.
What types of support do you offer to families after they complete the childbirth classes?
You will leave class with handouts and web resources that will reinforce what we learned in class.

When should I take childbirth classes?
Preparing yourself for childbirth begins early in your pregnancy. There are many low impact activities you can engage in that will help build strength, flexibility and endurance. Your tolerance for labor is greatly improved if you put in the time to enhance your overall physical health.
Consider walking, yoga, swimming and simple stretching and squatting exercises for at least 30 minutes per day.
Early third trimester (30-34 weeks) is the ideal time to find and attend a childbirth preparation class. this timing gives you the opportunity to learn and practice comfort techniques prior to your birth.
